Chestnut wood has a long lifespan, a durable character and a somewhat erratic shape.
The lifespan of posts is 15 to 20 years. The wood contains many tannins and therefore it is unnecessary to extend its lifespan with a chemical treatment. So the posts are not impregnated. And you don’t have to worry about chemical residues in your soil. Good for the environment!

How to make a willow fence?
For a warm, natural look to your garden, choose a willow fence. We use willow branches about 5 metres long, braided around chestnut posts. The willow branches, also known as birch slats, are very flexible and ideal for braiding. The sturdy 2 to 3 cm thick branches are used to make natural products such as a fence, screen or yard partition.
The branches are most pliable from November to April. Therefore, braiding a willow fence is best done during these months. Make the fence immediately after receiving the willows. This prevents the branches from drying out and breaking when braiding.
